Year 2
Welcome to the Year 2 page!
Year 2 has three classes;
the Bright Badgers, the Clever Foxes and the Awesome Otters.
The teachers will tell you about their classes and will be uploading pictures and information about their learning as the school year progresses.
In Year 2 we are fabulous learners! We work hard and use our GRIT in everything we do. We never give up, even when we are faced with the biggest challenges because we know that this is how we will learn. We also love encouraging each other and working together to learn side by side.
Year 2 Learning Themes Autumn 2021
Oracy Driven Curriculum
This year we are continuing to develop our Oracy skills as part of our topic curriculum as well as teaching children to make connections across the subjects. We have found that the children really enjoy this new curriculum and having opportunities to speak confidently about the things they have been learning about. The children are being introduced to timelines and maps to support their learning connections.
Class Showcase
This year we will give our children the opportunity to ‘showcase’ their learning. The Oracy driven curriculum will drive our class showcases and give children the confidence to share their learning.
Year 2 The children will study 3 topic units this term which will combine History and Geography skills: Homes and Houses, Time travel and Remembrance Day. Science – Materials, Health and Hygiene. |

The other strand to our positive behaviour system is based around the acronym ‘REACH IT’!
